Sounds like Saudi Arabia is in for a shake up sooner or later.
Considering our lack of pressure on the Saudi regime, which housed many of the terrorists that were involved in 9/11, this turns up to be a possible good (but stressful) sign for the region. Granted full order war may very scar the whole of the Middle East for decades to come but we are seeing that the old ways are dying among the Islamic states. Iran, with larger and larger student protests, is beginning to feel the heat of the public’s rejection of the current government.
I would honestly hope that change comes from peace and not violence but with regimes throughout the Middle East that will not let go of power easily it is becoming more and more evident that the liberation of Iraq may be only the first of many conflicts to come in the land. This shows how important the war in Iraq was even when you disregard the WMD situation (which we should have never really trumped as the main reason for going to war. But that’s another topic). In all honesty things may get far worse before they get better in this war on terrorism but we need to remember that the seeds planted here and there are not meant to sow war, but peace. Currently we are still in the tilling stage (mostly) where we are digging up the tough and stubborn dirt so that we may plant what we are currently planting in Iraq. Hope.
I am incredibly idealistic of the situation even though I know the outlook for the immediate time may be bleak. This is even more the reason why we should support those who are doing the tough work that must be done. Because now that this part of the war is done, we must make sure our men and women are vigilant enough that mistakes of the past are not repeated when we cut our losses and ran.
