So the all girl group from China, Twelve Girls Band, is starting to make some noise over here in the States including their rendition of the Coldplay song "Clocks."
Well I certainly find their tunes kinda catchy and hope to hear more about them. Seems as if they really are generating some buzz lately from what I've researched...
UPDATE: Welcome to those who come from www.twelvegirlsband.com! Additional posts here and here.

There is a yahoo listserv group dedicated to 12 Girls Band. Check it out if you want to know more about this amazing band:

12 girls music is lovley and timeless, brings me back to picking flowers in the garden and my daughters (ages 11 and 18) said, "MOM! It's the music from Mulan!!" How they sat and listened to how magical the music was. How us westerners missed out on the beautiful music of china, especially us up here in Alaska! Bravo to the 12 girls!! Hello from Alaska-come and play for us!!

I live in the Bay Area. There is a huge network of adoptive families with Chinese kids who would love to see the Twelve Girls Band play. I heard recently that they will be playing at a place that is for 21 and only. PLEASE consider adding a show that is not age-restricted! You have some serious fans out here that was planninn on attending in family groups. Very important!
Thank you.

Hmmm, I will try and pass on the information. Hopefully they read the posts here regarding the group and will see this comment. Unfortunately I can't find an actual contact email for the group.

Well, Twelve Girls Band (TGB) will have three concerts on the west coast:
8/12/04 8:00PM Los Angeles, CA
Royce Hall, UCLA. Tickets can be ordered at the UCLA Live website, as well as Ticketmaster.
8/17/04 8:00PM Seattle, WA
Moore Theatre. For tickets call 206-292-ARTS or go to Ticketmaster.
8/19/04 9:00PM San Francisco, CA
Bimbo's 365 Club. For tickets call 415-478-2277 or go to Tickets.com. or Ticketweb.com.
I am not sure if Bimbo's 365 Club is for 21 and above only. One would think that this concert will be open to the public without age restriction (Seattle's Moore Theatre does say "no babies in arm" ^_^) !!! A good way to get updated information about the 12 girls is to join the "12girlsband" yahoo newsgroup.

I agree with Alison that the show should have been located at a place where people of all ages could attend. Bimbo 365 is a night club where alcoholic beverages are sold, so attendees must be 21 or older. My son and I are new fans who became aware of the band while in Hong Kong in January and bought two of their DVD's there. We would like very much to see the band in person but must forego it since my son is not yet 21.

I just love the music. I seen their advertisement on TV about their new album "Eastern Energy" and heard some of the songs they had. Instantly I was hooked. I really like the way they have combined Chinese classical music with modern music. My favorite is "Clocks". Most Americans can identify what American song that one is. I just think this new type of music outdoes the best of both ages of music. It is, in my opinion, a lot better than most of the music played today.

If they are coming to perform in the U.S., why don't they play in some of the smaller but still good-sized cities. I live in Hutchinson, KS and I wouldn't mind if they performed in Wichita or Kansas City, MO.

Sorry if I sounded mean on the previous comment.

I was very much in love with Yanni, Vangelis and Kitaro's new age music.
How could I missed these 12 girls band after hearing their Eastern Energy album? Not enough publicity? The Japanese Promoters should open their wallet really wide open and give them what they want. My God! Girls your amazingly-superb-in-everything-you-play.

Twelve Girls Band is magnificent! It didn't take much to get me hooked. I heard them for the first time on TV via an advertisemnt, as some say "it was all she wrote". I plan to purchase the CD/DVD and as soon as they return to the SF bay area I will be there to here that God sent music. Who would have thought that Ancient Chinese music and modern music would have created such a storm.

Some thoughts
I saw the 12 Girls Band at UCLA's Royce Hall, and let me tell you, these angels are the greatest thing to hit the U.S. shores since the Beatles way back in the early sixties. I am still excited over their music and stage presence. They really grow on you.
I have also purchased their CD “Eastern Energy” and their DVD “Miracles” from yesasia.com. I plan to buy all their CD’s.
I have been spreading the word to everyone I know and even don’t know about the 12 GB. At first people go, Twelve Girls Band with a skeptical look on their faces. Then, when they hear the 12 GB music and see them, they immediately fall in love with the music. The comment I hear most is, who are they? The promo of these ladies really needs to be cranked up to a much higher level. In the U.S. it is not a good marketing move to try and break a new act or unknown act without radio airplay.
Radio air play is a very important and key tool to use for new or unknown acts in the U.S. The 12 GB are not a stage dance troop (Riverdance), they are a band and therefore should be marketed like a band. These women have the sound, talent, looks and stage presence to become super stars in the U.S. A lot more can be done with the 12 GB with repects to the proper marketing and promotion. This is not Japan, Europe or Asia, it’s the U.S., therefore, an entirely different marketing methodology should be utilized.
The best news I heard all week is that, based on the success of the current tour combined with consumer reaction to the release of Eastern Energy, Twelve Girls Band will return to North America for a more extensive tour in November.
I shall be the first in line for tickets.

at the Olympics closing ceremony. Am I wrong?
Nobody seems to have noticed

Supposedly wasn't them but some other group of performers....I didn't recgonize any of them either so...

I am sure that 12 Girls Band didn't take the performance at the Olympics closing ceremony. Those twelve girls at the ceremony are other girls, who were selected by Yimou Zhang.

Hi guys, suffice to say I'm now the Olympic #1 fan of the girls band that played there at the closing ceremony. The problem I have is accepting is the perception that the the 12 Girls band and the band that played at the Olympic is one and the same. I afraid that they are NOT people. The group that played have 14 Girls and NOT 12. The Drummer girl and the one with the small dimples tickle my fancy. If you,ve seen the performance of the 12 Girls band and the girls themselves, you know that they are not the same group.
I'm currently investigating the rumours that they are a Heavily modified version of the actul 12 Girls band. Will keep you posted.
If anyone out there that have definitive proof (Name) of the actual group that played in the closing ceremony, Pls Pls Pls don't torture me, let me know.
