The stage is beginning to be set for Hillary come 2008. Michelle Malkin posts regarding Hillary's sudden concern with the border and immigrant issues, which just happens to be a MAJOR weakness of the Bush administration and the current "guest" worker program the White House is trying to get going. Do I believe she's serious about the border? No, not one wit, but in the end, who the heck cares? I mean this IS an issue that reaches out to conservatives like very few others and now that the White House has seemingly abandoned this aspect of conservatism it's up for grabs and Hillary is far from oblivious to it. Needless to say, if a terrorist attack is accomplished on our soil again and it is found that our pourous borders were where these people came from, I want Bush out. You heard me, out. This nation voted Bush back in because we believe he will keep America safe and leaving our borders as they currently are is a swipe against that trust. Nevermind all the other reasons why our borders should be more closely monitored than they currently are.
This isn't good and it is my hope that Congress rejects this by a landslide. Our President needs to be sent a message that giving illegals "backdoor"amnesty is NOT why he was voted back into office. Not even close. And if God forbid something does happen, I don't think Republicans have any chance keeping office come 2008.

I blogged about this issue last night, in fact. Read on the LA Times (although I suppose one shouldn't believe EVERYTHING one reas) quoting Bush, that what he proposes is NOT an amnesty. It was clearly stated, no beating around the bush (no pun!). And he says he is going to try to get that message across the rather conservative Congress.

Glad to see there is some turn-of-events that would make you turn your back on Bush.
Hillary in 2008 would be a disaster for the Democratic Party, as both Josh Marshall and a writer for the New Republic have pointed out.
She'll never get my vote.

Sure, I've got plenty, I just know that during an election cycle I'm not going to be doing much praising of the opposition (though I had little if any to praise Kerry about) and certainly won't be harping on all the bad my candidate is about. Now that the cycle is over and my candidate had won it's time to voice what I think of what my re-elected candidate is doing. If it isn't what I thought I was voting for, well you can be damn sure I'll let it be known what I think.
There's more than just this and as things progress and show their head I'll say what I think. If anything Bush tries having it two ways, the long-term and the short-term. Unfortunately the short-term really doesn't help the conversative ideals most Bush voters hold and nor does it reflect well in the long term of history. Clinton may have had what seemed like 8 "good" years but as history will show, it won't be anything like it seemed. So must this president keep that in mind. Leaders keep their people safe and protected and respresented for the time being, great leaders do all that for the long run, so would be my hope that Bush will realize this.
