You know this blog is constantly on my mind at times and that's a good thing. The bad thing about that is right now I'm in kind of a limbo as to what direction I should be proceeding in with it. Sure I love politics and it certainly is a subject that comes up a great deal in my discussions but the issue with making it the focal point has been made evident in exactly what has occured in the past month, burnout. After the whole immigration mess I just felt drained and frankly disgusted that we've been so let down by our elected represenatives. Naturally I'm not a person who likes dwelling on the more negative aspects of things, or if that's the only thing I can look at I'll step away to take a breather. Enjoy those greener pastures so to speak. So when I step away from the political I look at this blog and ask myself what I should write that's an interest to people. What can grab those numbers that make up my "viewer stats?" Needless to say it doesn't take too long to realize that perhaps it isn't all about what grabs people to your site (though it will play a part) and more about investing in the blog for yourself.
The past couple of days I've been racking my mind about how I wanted to change things around. Obviously it involves the things I interest me and it also involves a change of mindset about blogging itself. Blogging can be a great way of honing your writing and communication skills if you allow yourself to go back and look at what you've wrote and decide whether or not you got your message across effectively as opposed to being one long rant better suited for the recesses of your mind then out in the open for all to see. So here I'm now looking for a slight change of direction. Just as there is more in life then politics so there should be for this blog (early on it was like that but somehow lost its way later on) and that's what I'm going to do. I mentioned before about the documents our Founding Fathers wrote regarding our country (and I do plan on writing some about that) but I've been looking to improve my financial education lately and have found quite a few great investment blogs that have already change my viewpoint towards finance and would like to share with people as well as reminding myself the lessons they provide. There's always music and movies though I haven't been able to immerse myself in the Arts like I would like to (going to Wicked tonight though) so that'll come. And then there's always though interesting stories of people and places that litter the Net that might us chuckle or shake our heads in wonder. Hopefully people will find that enjoyable as I do.
It would be nice though if I knew more about Wordpress and MT and all that. Really would like to have more control over my blog then I currently have, any suggestions on that are most welcome. So many new facets developed for blogs lately it's hard to take in at once.
